    The rate constants for hydrogen-atom abstraction from sulfur–hydrogen and selenium–hydrogen bonds are so rapid [kSH = 1.5 x 108 M-1s-1 (from C6H5SH) and kSeH = 2.1 x 109 M-1s-1 (from C6H5SeH)] that abstraction typically will take place before other radical reactions (e.g., addition, cyclization, and rearrangement) can occur.
