The study of kinetics, involves very complex and sophisticated reactions that cannot be analyzed without a proposed mechanism. In order to analyze the kinetics of complex reactions, a series of steps in a reaction must be determined. As a result, scientists have developed a proposal that can help in visualizing this process, step by step, in a reaction: the reaction mechanism.
